Back to the season at hand

4 more Christmas cards that were long finished and forgotten. But since it's 3:30am, and I have nothing else to do I thought It's now or never.
This card is a design from Ruby Burns teabag cd at http://pages.prodigy.net/rubyburns , I got the cd last year and they are all super designs.

I used a piece of gauze and stamped over it to get the bottom background, and a scrap piece of paper to do the top.
Stamped and cut out the tree, added the ribbon from Jody Morrow's May arts ribbon share, at http://confessionsofaribbonaddict.blogspot.com/ .

Another Fairysong stamp, http://faeriesong.com/ all glittered up, the border is a tape runner (I forget from where right now).

I thought I'd try to do a stitch card, and all by hand (no sewing machine yet) lol, and I must say I did it pretty even considering that I almost went blind pierceing each hole along my ruler to get the machined look.
I used the thread that Dianne got for me for my stitch cards, and chipboard letters from a kit I got at Costco a while back.
Have a great day

Non Christmas related

I was getting a bit tired of doing X-Mas cards so I slipped a few non X-mas ones in.
I had fun doing this one cause there was alot of cutting out. I know most people don't like haveing to do lots of cuts, but I on the other hand don't mind it.

I did the bathroom wall tiles with self adhesive epoxy dimensional tiles. They are a bit wonky in their placement, but I guess I'm not really good at straight lines (even with the help of ruler and pencil)
I've had these for soooo long that I was pleasantly surprised that they still had sticking power. LOL
A strip of textured paper for a border underneath set the scene.
I watercolored the wall with just a hint of green, colored and cut out the bottles of bath salts (I actually doubled them because the stamp only has two bottles), and the shelf (which I cut the legs off of) and stuck them on the wall.
This is a stamp from http://www.rubberromance.com/ and I just love it.
Anyway, I stickled the bubbles to death so they would really stand out, cut the whole thing out and stuck it on.
There you have it

I guess you've noticed that I don't use many sentiments and are asking why that is, and the answer is
Drum roll please.........................

That I have no answer, Yup you read that right. I really don't have an answer to give you. I love them, I have them, yet I don't use them.
Oh well, just one more thing for me to ponder over.

This card I brightened up so you could see the felt on it better.

I got this design in 2004 from Craft Creations magazine and I loved it way back then.

I watered colored the background on watercolor paper, trying to get that warm african sunset feeling. I think I'm off the mark a tad, but all in all I think it turned out alright.
The giraffs are cut out of thick felt as you can see on the top pic, which gives it dimension.
I did however go a bit overboard roughing up the edges of the card, as you can see I ripped a piece out of the top.
But hey It's homemade paper and it has it's own flaws which is fine with me.

Ok... So it's not Monday....

I loose track of time cause I'm just sooooo busy, (NOT), so I missed posting this week.
BUT here are a few more I've had done for some time now.
I did a closeup on both just because I wanted to. lol
This a House Mouse stamp, and how darn cute are they.
I have a few and will post them, HUMMMM, well no date cause I probably won't keep to it anyway.

This little cutie is from MFT, myfavoritethings. I love the penguins and the sentiments from this set.

Well off to see if I can get organized enough to get another post ready for you soon.
Have a great Friday

Getting behind

on my posting. Sorry I haven't posted my cards as promised, but, What can I say.
My nights have been turned into my days, and vise versa.
I'm not sleeping right,(at night) so that's when I'm getting my cards made, which limits me from heat embossing or making a lot of noise for fear of waking Dan.

ANYWHO!!!!!!!!!
here are the cards I have done.
Not sure why I made this one, except that I really love the oriental paper (that I've been hording for some time now) and thought it would look better on a card then it does in my drawer.

I love anything Black and White, so I tried one myself. I actually really like how it turned out.
The tree is stamped twice and layered off center with pop dots, not sure if you can see that. It is also my first attempt at doing the ribbon this way.

This card I made for my nefew Jemal and his lovely lady Alethea.
He proposed to her at a surprise dinner.

And this one is a version of a taller card I made last year.

Well that's just 4, there really are more, and I will try to get them up before Monday. FINGERS CROSSED. LOL

Happy Saturday to you all.

Ok, here's the deal

I was tagged awhile back by Sandy at http://smarcoux.blogspot.com/ to reveil 7 facts, random or weird about myself then tag 7 others.
I find I'm not too great at talking about myself, so I was hopeing she would forgive me if I didn't play.
I find that I have been tagged again by Jen at http://inkingalong.blogspot.com/ ,so I guess I'll take a stab at it.

1 I am the third child of 5, (One older brother, one older sister, and two younger brothers) yet I am the baby because I'm the youngest girl. Go figure. WEIRD

2 I was named after a Sheenie ( A person who rode a horse drawn cart selling new and used clothing and household goods, in the early 50's). Weird? LOL

3 I was born in May, as were both my daughters, and two of my granddaughters. (must have been some cold winters here in Canada eh?) Random

4 I'm not really talkative and usually very shy around strangers. Although my friends say I'm super silly and too talkative when I'm tired. (I don't believe them though) LOL Random

5 I have no belly button. (DON'T ASK) When my girls were small, they would parade their friends in, and get this, charge them a nickle to look at my "NOBELLYBUTTON" as they called it. ok, ok REALLY Weird

6 My brother used to be a DJ, and my sister and I used to be GO GO dancer's in the club he worked at. LOL boy does that date me. ROFL

7 I used to have this savage beast in me that made me a CLEAN FREAK, as my friends and family so lovingly called me. But that has been squelched since I got my puter. Now housework seems to be a thing of the past. Bad Puter!!!!! lol

whew!!!!, that was hard. Now I am suposed to tag 7 others, BUT if you read this and want to play along please feel free. I'd love to hear some random/weird things about you.

Thanks Sandy and Jen for choosing me.
Have a great day all

Reflections on the English Language

Why the English Language is such a joy to learn.

(1) The bandage was wound around the wound
(2) The farm was used to produce produce
(3) The dump was so full it had to refuse more refuse.
(4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
(5) He could lead if he could get the lead out.
(6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
(7) They were too close to the door to close it.
(8) The insurance was invalid to the invalid.
(9) I did not object to the object.
(10) After a number of injections my jaw got number.

I could go on, lets face it - English is a crazy language.

There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburg.
English muffins weren't invented in England or french fries in France.
Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet are meat.

We take the English language for granted, but if we explore it's paradoxes,
we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig
is neither from Guinea, nor is it a pig.
And why is it the writers write but fingers don't fing?
And if the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth?

Dosen't it seem crazy that you can make amends, but not one amend, that you comd through
annals of history but not a single annal?
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If a retired teachers taught, did retired preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.
In what language do people recite a play, and play at a recital?
Ship by truck, and send cargo by ship?
Have noses that run, and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?
How can overlook and and oversee be opposites, while quite a lot and quite a few are alike?
How can the weather be hot as hell one day, and cold as hell another?

Or Have you ever noticed that we describe certain things only when they are absent?
A horseless carriage, or a strapless gown.
(Have you ever seen a horseful carriage or a strapful gown?) Or met a sung hero, or experienced equited love?
Have you ever run into someone who was combobulated, gruntled, ruly or peccable?
And where are all those people that ARE spring chickens or who would ACTUALLY hurt a fly?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which you fill in a form by filling it out.and an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race( which, of course is not a race at all).
That is why, when the stars come out, they are visible, but when the lighta are out, they are invisible.
And why, when I wind up my watch it starts
And when I wind up this this essay It ENDS.

Just some food for thought.

Halloween

Thought I'd do a few Halloween cards too, since it's right around the corner.

Painted tissue paper on gold c/s, dry stenciled the happy halloween, the fence, and the tree I did 2x's so it would stand out from the fence. The little plastic pumpkins were in a card I got last year, so I added pop dots to them too.

This card could be for thanks giveing or halloween I think. so no sentiment yet

Again no sentiment, but it will when i give it to someone.
I did the pumpkins on vellum. and stamped the brown background.

Good thing witches are ugly, because this one sure is. She is done on orange vellum and water colored. I mounted this on a lighter orange c/s, then a green card base.

The end is in sight.

Well......... I can almost see the end to all this X-Mas card makeing.
This was a quick one, I stamped the image, chalked it, added the silver rik-a -rak, added brads to match the colored stockings.

The baubbles are free (4 Digital kits were available) from http://www.papertreyink.com/ , as a world card makeing day bonus.
I just printed and cut them out, added ribbon and those cute red and white embellishments.

Another cute stamp from http://www.faeriesong.com/ .
I added som stitching and beading to her and the sentiment, paper pierced then highlighted that with my glitter gel pen.

This last little one is also from faeriesong,(Site above) and is the last note card for my friend.
I was going to cut out her wings like with the other fairies, but decided to just cross hatch the wings this time. I added (of course) some sparlke too.
All water colored except the wings which is done with prismacolored pens.

Got a few

of the holiday cards done for Dan's parents.
Simple cards are the trick, If I can just stay to that I'll be done in no time. RIGHT? hehe

This card is just that,
Black c/s base, printed vellum added to white c/s with 4 brads, grossgrain ribbon.

Gold c/s mounted on white base, "Joy" printed c/s on that, Added a bit if stickle to centre of the 'O's,
added red and black sheer ribbons.

white c/s. cut the inside of an envelope, added stamped image to that, and a few small strips of the envelope to enhance the sentiment, Dainty ribbon, and all done.
Stamp from: http://www.mftstamps.com/

Ok........ I got a bit out of the fast and easy with this one.
But to my credit I used up all the leftover c/s. wrapping paper and a small pc. of c/s
from other disastrous Attempts at cards.
So all I really did here was adhere them all. stamp and color the image, one of my cutsie Bella's, add glitter and dimentional paint foe the snow.

Something a bit different 3D Cards

Thses are a few cards I did while on my long absence from blogland.
I was doing, and am still in the middle of doing a few more stitch cards, but I wanted a break.
I have had these cards in the makeing for a whole year, YUP, you read that right, A WHOLE YEAR.
Now I know one thing about me, and that is I usually finish whatever I start, but I am shocked that it took me this long to do these cards. And being the dunce that I am, I have forgotten the designer of these 3D card patterns, but as soon as I find her name I will edit this post. I do know that I got them from http://www.irisfolding.circleofcrafters.com , a very wonderful and shareing group that I joined last year.
On this first card I did a wax resist n the background c/s in a leaf pattern, did a border punch only 2 sides, added stickle to her ring, ear lobes and her dangling head wear, and a few drops of dimentional paint to the pecock feathers to enhance them, and lastly I added two diamond dabbles for her earrings.
I see it's hard to tell that it is 3Dimentional, but I tried to get a good pic from the side, Photographer I'm not. Sorry.

This is another 3D card. I just mucked a few different drops of perlEX with embossing powders, and got this effect. Done on gold c/s.
And again you can't see the 3D effect.

Just when you think

that you have a handle on all your Christmas cards for the year, you get a request to make some for someone else.
I had made a card for Dans mother and father's anniversary,Oct 1st, and a card for his mom as that day was also her birthday. (Dan was going out to buy their cards, then left it too late), sooooooo... I thought I'd make them. They were last minute cards, so sorry no pics.

Anyway, Dan took them over with their presents, and before he got back home I got a call. They were thrilled with the cards and wanted to ask me if I would make them some cards for Christmas.
The conversation was totally forgotten (by me anyway), But today we went to his sister's house for Thanksgiving dinner and they asked if I had made any cards for them yet.
Are you getting the drift of where this is going yet?

I was totally shocked at first, then I thought they were just kidding me, then when they convinced me they were serious, I went into panic mode.

So I guess that's what I'll be doing for a bit longer now.
Whew! This feels funny venting on here, so thanks for listening.

These cards are not one I made for them , just some of the last few I have been doing lately.
I watercolored this little guy on clear vellum.

This cute fairy is from www.faeriesong.com
I cut out her wings and backed them with some pretty blue and silver ribbon.

I attempted a shaker box here. I have tried these before, and they never worked, this one is no different. Well, I didn't make it deep enough so those yummy snowflakes (yummy, because they are cake decorations, and boy do they smell good) can move around properly. Although a few do shake. LOL
I sprinkled purlex all over the card, so it's really nice and shimery.

Frosty here really needs not explanation. I did him with my prisma color markers, added that same blue and silver ribbon I mentioned on the fairy's wings, and all done.
