EDM #16

Challenge sixteen was to do a fave tool, and although I really don't have one I did think this was quite a hoot. Us poor women get razzed all the time for our machanical skills all the time, and this was sent to me by a male co-worker.
I have worked in a plant that makes car parts for the last 17 yrs, and I run and fix all m/c problems except anything to do with electrical.
The fella that sent this was the lead setup for my area, and knows how well I can fix my own problems with the m/c, but he used to get so annoyed with some of the ladies there who's sole purpose was to look good at all costs, and wait content in the knowledge that Dear Paul would be there at any moment to fix that dirty m/c's (2 second problem).
Did I say annoyed?....... well I meant something quite stronger. LOL
He used to say "I wonder how they's do if I gave them a knife and a shoe"

Where he found this I don't know, but I thought it would be funny to include it in this challenge.

Wings with Bling

I wanted to get caught up on some card making this week. After haveing so much fun at the workshop, I guess I got a bit revved up.
Any HOO, I felt like a bit of bling was in order, so I did these two butterfly cards first.

Cute as a button

I was looking out my frontroom window the other day, and this cute little girl was just standing there watching her dad doing something in their front yard.
I watched her for quite awhile, and to my amazement, she never moved from that spot for a long time. I had heard her father tell her to keep out of the way, and she actually listened to him.
I grabbed my small sketchbook to try and capture her, and it was about 5 mins. later that her dad grabbed her and lifted her over the fence, and they were gone.
I had already started this, so I plodded on trying to get it just how I remembered.
This is missing alot, but I couldn't see what she was holding, a doll, a toy? I don't know.

Hillarious story

I was just visiting this blog http://inkingalong.blogspot.com/ , and you have got to go there and read her post " Tarantula Hunt". It is a really long read, but it will make you pee your pants laughing.

I have never laughed so hard. check it out if you dare. LOL

Card workshop

Last night I finally dragged myself and Dianne to a card workshop for Stampin Up.

It's the first one for me, and I got to spend some $$$$$$$$$$$$$, which always puts a BIG smile on my face. LOL

We made this card with a brayer and multicolored ink pad on glossy white cs., soooooooo easy peasy.
Of course you can't see how fab it really looks in the scan, but trust me it's a keeper.

This one is a cute pocket card, in a yummy chocolate color, and lots of bling, which I added to the tree when I got home.

And this one was just super to make. Here it is closed,

Now how cute is this, I ask you?
Another quick and easy card.

So all in all it was a great night, what with learning new techniques, meeting new friends
AND getting to spend, spend, spend.

EDM # 30

My ideal chair would look something like this.
My brother Kerry has one and it is just too cumfy.
It has that soft cushioned leather seat, back, headrest, and ottoman.
The sides are a dark brown suede, and the older it gets, it seems the more comfortable it get also.

This is just a bit of whimsy, I'm not sure where I was going with this, but I like the result.

This little boy is the one who had the frog painted on his face, he was really into it I'd say.

You might notice that in all these pics Little Jazmin (in the pink two piece) was supervising, and makeing sure they were playing the game right.
Too funny

this brother and older sister were determined to win.

Butterflies and a frog

All the girls wanted a butterfly painted on their faces, and all the same color too,but none of them would sit still long enough to get them finished. LOL
There was so much going on in different spots, that they kept looking all over while I was trying to paint. So all of them had a butterfly in different stages of finish.
The main thing is they all loved them, finished or not, and as long as they had sparkles, they were thrilled. (go figure)lol

This little cutie wanted a frog painted on his face, which was so appropriate for him with that green hat and those big cheeks and all.
We, Dianne and I, tried to get him before it was all smeared, but as you can see that was a lost cause.

It's Birthday time again

This past weekend was a blast.
In May two of my granddaughters had Birthdays, but since it was still really cool weather Corinne
(daughter #2) decided to have a pool party for the both of them in June.
It turned out to be a beautiful day for it too.

Kendra turned 6, and Taylor turned 11.

Here are the birthday girls,Taylor on the left, and Kendra on the right, and the little one in the middle is Jazmin, my third granddaughter, who designated herself the opener of all the gifts. LOL
We all had a great day considering there were a few more kids there then were invited. There was none of the squabblings, whineing, or tantrums that you'd expect with that many kids, but Corrine had so many things for them to do, beginning with supervised turns in the pool, tatoos, face painting, water balloon toss, darts..... well you get the picture.

I made a few cards for baby showers and got one father's day card done. Just a few more to make.

Postcard from Carol

Here is the beautiful postcard I recieved from Carol Clasper, see her blog listed on the right hand side, It's a stunner, and in my all time fave color.
She very graciously gave one to everyone who commented on one of her posts, Which by the way is a hard thing not to comment on since her work is amazing.

LOL, OKAY... here is a feeble attempt at doing Johnny Depp.
If he knew he looked this bad he's have a stroke.
Maybe I will try his pirate getup, that might be more fun.
Or funny depending on how it turns out.

EDM #76 & 94

After a bit of a hiatus from my puter room, I felt I should get some of my sketches posted.
I have been doing some water color sketches, and not feeling too comfy with it yet.
Here is one I really am pleased with though.
This started out as a blob of paint that landed on a scrap piece of paper while I was attempting to paint another picture. (Go figure)

Danny had just bought me some flowers at the market the day before, and I just started to move the paint around and as I looked up it kind of looked like one of the flowers, so I played.
And this is the result.

This one I'm not too overly pleased with, but at least it looks like wooden spoons, so I am happy about that. LOL

The Mother's Day Project

This is Sgt Denise A. Lannaman from Bayside N.Y. She was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1569th Transporttation Company, Newburgh, N. Y.

Sgt Denise A. Lannaman, 46, of Bayside, N.Y., died Oct 1 at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

Remembers all the women who lost their lives in the course of the Iraq War.
The project involves 2 totes, one with 79 names of these women, and the second, 79 more plus one more woman that died after this project began.
Volunteers (of which I am proud to be one of) will stitch each name on a piece of muslin, ( I just finished stitching Denise's name) Anne will then make the totes wth all the names on them. When this is complete, the totes will be passed among the volunteers that took part, each will have the tote for a week or two, then pass it on to another volunteer.

Before I started to stitch her name I went to http://icasualties.org/oif/female.aspx , and read about Denise, and many others listed there. I felt saddened at unnessesary countless loss of lives.

It is my fervent wish that one day, as the song states "THE WORLD WILL LIVE AS ONE".
