Messing about with Material

SO....... today, well friday that is, I played around with shaveing foam and material. This is some of the results.
I brushed off the foam from most of them, but thought I liked the look with the foam, so I left it on a few of them and left them to dry.
They dried very hard, and I think they look better (more texture).
Next time I'll do it on a colored background.
Can't wait to see how my rusting is comeing along. More on that later.

Fairy Shoes

Well here they are, my all handsewen fairy shoes.I pictured them with the leaf to show thier size, but I bent the leaf... so it looks smaller than the shoes. They are about 4 1/2 inches long.
Anyway____ first I dotted some red felt with gold paint, then I hand sewed diagonally with gold metalic thread. "Nasty job"- I cut black felt and sewed the soles and uppers together, then the part that took the longest, was sewing the uppers to the soles and the shoe opening.
Next time I am glueing.
OK ,OK, I'm kidding.
where was I? Oh yeah, I then found these really tiny bells and attached them to the toes and added the ribbon and beads to top. ALLLLLLL done WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clay

Well, Well, Well. Here I am again, and this is my attempt at working with clay. Not at all what it was originally going to look like. This was the prettiest hues of blues, pinks, and sort of irridesent.
Let me tell you ...."Don't follow the baking instructions". I did this at the right temp.,- time..... well I didn't get to the right time because they burned to a crisp,( Well almost), but bad enough that I had to paint it all as you can see quite different colors.
Oh the pain of it all. LOL
I did several pieces, and all were salvagable, though not to my liking.
Picky, picky, picky.
Back to the drawing board I guess.
See you soon

Baby Shower

Well hello people.

I have been very remiss in keeping this blog up to date, but you know how it is.
Got really busy, then in a slump. And now on to a new challenge with my buddies.

These are a few of the Baby Shower invitations that I have been doing for my sister.
Her Son, My nefew (Of course), and his lovely lady are due to have thier first baby in a few mos. and I offered to do the shower invitations for her. Good thing because Debbie (my Sister and first time GRANDMOTHER to be) is on cloud nine and really acting like a space cadet. For those of you who have been there you know what I mean.

Well anyway I found this cute bag for baby gifts, copied it and put it on the back of the envelopes, which I posted earlier. I thought it was really cute, and in case you can't read it in last post: it says
WHAAAA

With a new baby in the house,
there'll be crying, bottle drinking, temper tantrums....
(Just don't do it in front of the baby!).

Too cute eh?????

Well there are 30 of these things to do, and they don't want to know what she is haveing, so I did them in blue, pink, and yellow. Trying to find a nice soft green allso. After all green is the new pink.( LOL) Inside joke.
I have been doing a few other thing also, and as soon as they are done I will post.
Hope that is soon. too much on my pallett at one time.
Oh well keeps me on my toes I guess.

Practise run "LOL"

Well, Well, Well....Silly me.
We, - Suzanne, Sandy, Dianne and myself are doing another challenge, and this is my practise run, I guess you could call it.
The shoes we are to be doing, are FAIRY SHOES.
I know this is not even close, but couldn't resist trying to make high heeled shoes as I have attempted sandles in the past and I think they turned out ok.
These are made out of card stock, cardboard for the sole, foam for insole, and dowels for the heel. A few leaf adornment on sides and front and VOILA!!! my first high heeled shoe is complete.
Now on to the FAIRY SHOE.
Wish me luck.

Challenge #1 Ethnic Doll

Whew!!!!!!!!!
This was guite a challenge for me, because I have never really worked with anything other than paper. I found it quite a challenge indeeed.
Once I decieded which nationality I was going to do, I had to..............well do it.
First I decieded to make the kimono. The fabric is from an old sheet set that was worn and torn up, (i knew it would come in handy some day, but not to do this), I painted the flowers and leaves, and added some sparkle paint to outline. I don't know if you can see, but I sewed each of the wings differently, some of the leaves are sewen and some are a different color. Just to be different I guess.
Then on to the doll itself. this is were the WHEW!!!!!!!! comes in.
just wrapped material around long wooden coffee stirsticks, glued the dress on, and wrapped a piece of gold sparkle wire bow to waist. The head got stuffed and the face is a brotche that I thought looked chinese. I glued moveing eyes to back of this. Toothpix for hairpiece, and a little bow ribbon as adornment.
Challenge # one complete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ethnic Doll Challenge

This is my first time ever makeing a doll.
Sandy, Dianne, Suzanne, and I did a challenge to make an ethnic doll.
So here she is.

Good try he! he! he!

Well this is my first attempt at beading. Can you see the so- so straight lines? Aren't they lovely?
Needless to say I wont be trying this again for a while. Although I did it on felt, and cloth might be better.
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we won't be knowing that for a long, long time.

Party Time

These are the party invitations for my granddaughter's 5th "B" Day party. They are going bowling, so I thought I'd make soles as invites. Daughter put words on later, Sorry no pic of that. The complete Sandal is for Kendra (granddaughter) to keep. If she is anything like me she will have it till she dies. I even put on a heel and toe piece. Chuckle, chuckle.

Boy I wish I could make real shoes (IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES) . There would be no color or style left unturned..........................Yummy!!!!!!! shoes! shoes! shoes!

Ok, back to reality here. More posts to come.
