EDM #9 & 10

My desk in this little corner of the room. It's a corner desk and very uninteresting, but It's my own space to get away and see the world.

AND MY HAND
Don't laugh too loud now. Believe it or not, this is my umpteenth try, and ..... well need I say more? I just can't get the hand right. I've done the circles and squares to get it in proportion, and still can't get it. I'm almost embarrassed to post this, except I was challenged by miss Luci that if she would post hers (which by the way I've yet to see a bad drawing from her) if I posted mine.
OK,OK, you can laugh now, I am.

EDM #8 & 11

NO I DID NOT DO THESE ALL IN ONE DAY, heaven forbid.
So you are asking yourselves, "where are challenge #9 and 10"?
Well I'll tell you where, in my head at the moment. #9 is to draw my hand. HA!
Try as I might, I still can't get that right yet. I will be posting my efforts though, because there will be no cheating here. OH NO, NOT HERE. lol
# 10 is to draw my desk or table with books, I believe it was , ok, I know that's what it was. NO, I'm not avoiding the issue at all. I did do my desk, but I don't like it, so, well I will post it real soon. Honestly.
Sooooo, here is # 8. VOILA, A watch.

And last, but not least #11, his and hers sunglasses. That's all for a few days now as I have a project to complete with Di, Sue, and Sandy, oh , and Luci I hear. hahaha
Edited: I just realised that my glasses had no lenses. OOPS
Have a great day all

EDM #6 &7

Do your favorite thing, or a toy.
Well I've discovered that I don't have a favorite thing really, and if I do I'm not aware of it.
So I had already done this blowup toy to put on a card, so I cheated (sort of) and added this as my#6 challenge.

A jar, easy right? Not!!!! I had more trouble than enough doing thie simple sketch, and I'm still not pleased wit it.

So I did it again, and am still not happy. Go figure. I'm not giveing up just yet though.

May Birthdays

Blogger was acting up yesterday, and I found out the hard way, as I'm sure some of you did. I was getting so frustrated trying to get pics to download to my blog.

Anyway, here are a few cards I did for birthdays comeing up in May.
I don't know about you, but May is like another December for me. I have mother's Day as you all do too, then both of my daughters birthdays are in May as are two of my grandchildren, and two, no make that 3 very good friends.
Now my daughter wants me to make up birthday invitations for her two (that's the two granddaughters I mentioned before) daughters. They are haveing a combined pool party this year, so that should be fun if the weather is warm enough, (fingers crossed for the little ones).

This first card has two pockets which I inserted tags in and I think it would be a good way to do the invites Hummmmm, good thinking on my part.
I got this cute idea from Paula at www.stampnscrapwithpaula.blogspot.com who very kindly gave the directions on her blog for all to use. So thanks Paula.

This one is still missing something, and once I figure that out I'll repost it. LOL

This cute Wallet & pocket card was posted with direction also. I got it from Amy at
www.prairiepaperandpen.blogspot.com and added my twist to it.

This is the inside view. I think it would be great to add giftcards, or put a pic on the cards inside the pockets. So many ways to use this one.

EDM Challenges 3 thru 5

Here it is as promised earlier, here are challenges 3 thru 5.
I still have to do #6 to get caught up from the day I started, so I will try to get that done tonight.
That one should be interesting as it is a well loved object or toy. So I'm off to put on my thinking cap.

EveryDayMatters

I have to say very quickly that I joined a group last week called Every Day Matters. The members have daily sketch challenges, and I decided to start at challenge #1 and work my way - hopefully through all of them.
This is challenge #1
I liked doing this one since I can't wear any of my considerable pairs of shoes. I at least got to go through them all and pick a few of my faves, which was not an easy thing to do.

This is challenge #2
A desk lamp. It's suposed to be a Tifany lamp, but not being really fond of that style I guess I could have picked some better colors, but I drew a complete blank.. Imagine! I guess any thing would do, color wise that is. I might do another one later.
So since I started this last week I do have a few more sketches done, and will download these later today.
Chao for now, and hope you all had a great weekend.

Wednesday's drawings

Well I had a great day on wed., and thought of nothing but sketching, so here are few I did. Alas, I had a little visiter who liked them a bit too much. My granddaughter came for a visit and wanted to draw with me, but she liked mine better so she grabbed them to show her mommy, (so they are a tad wrinkled)before we could stop her. heheheh, good to know I have a little admirer though.
In this one I was trying to get the teeth in the right perspective, since I think I try too hard to concentrate on the eyes and mouth.
AND........ This one, believe it or not is supposed to be a sketch of me. NOT EVEN CLOSE, but I like it none the less. Notice the teeth again? I think I'd better start with inanimate objects from now on and go from there.
Luci HELP!!!!!!!! LOL

Have a great day all

Sketch

I have been off Line for a bit, and only popped in on Easter Sunday to wish a Happy Easter to some online friends.
I was given an order to stay completely off my feet by my Dr., and since my puter room is a bit of a walk, It's been hard to sneak in here without detection.
I am however feeling a bit better today and I want to play a bit....... SO HERE I AM. HEHEHE!!!
Anyway, while being off I decided to do some sketching.
I am not quite pleased with this one but nor am I totally disappointed.
I sketched with pencil then chalked it, then I decided to use a fine marker and go over the whole thing, which is where I think I went overboard.
I have done a few more sketches, and will post them later as I hear Dan comeing.
Yup, caught in the act................. Sigh..........
Well back to my (butt patrol) as I am so loveingly calling my new restrictions. LOL
I'll try to pop back later. (wink)

Hail the Queen

I made this card for my granddaughter Kendra. Her Birthday is comeing up in May. She'll be 7 going on 70 this year, and she's the little queen. She likes to dress up as a princess, although I think this year the costume might be a bit small for her. Anyway she thinks she's a princess and I think she's my little queen.

Snap - Stamps

These are the Snap-Stamps I told you about. They are so cool because they interlock and you just have to pull them apart and assemble them in any configuration you want.
I have only used the larger set so far on the Easter card in my last post. The smaller set looks really small here, but it will be great for smaller projects.
Sure saves on space used up with other larger alphabet stamp sets. Both these sets are in the lowercase, but I do believe they come in the uppercase also.

Hoppy Easter

Well I am off the the Dr.'s today, but I just had to show you the cute card I did.
I used some yellow and pink card stock, wall paper (the pink, blue, and yellow stripes), made some picture corners from blue c/s, then used my water color crayons on the image.

A while back I bought some Snap - Stamps from Cindy at www.stampalicious.typepad.com that are awesome because you can make any quote or verse you want. I will try to take a pic of them to show you what they look like. They are very compact and easy to use. I got 2 different sizes.
Well got to get ready now, I'll post more later.

Have a great day All

Open I say

I made these cards with Easter in mind, but maybe just because it's spring.
This purse opens up to reveal a message inside. Then of course there's a verse inside the card too.

On this one I tore up an all tattered ribbon to do the fringe, and the hat also opens up, no message as yet though, as I'm not sure if it's for Easter or happy spring .

Celebrate the Magic

Here are a few more cards I did. this first one I used the same ribbon as on the dress card. I used the Celebrate stamp and the envelope with flowers stamp both from www.stampingup.com in gold embossing then I dotted all over the card with the same gold and embossed that also.

This one I used another stamp from www.stampingbella.com this one is Tinkerbella. I used my water colors on her. I think this stamp is so cute. Then I added the Magic Happens to the bottom to finish it off.

A few cards for mom's Day

As is the case a lot lately, I couldn't sleep, and of course there was nothing on the boob tube so I dicided to try and do a card. As it turned out I did a few cards. I will post this one now and hopefully the rest later today.

This is the outside of the card. The dress is done in cold foil paper which is really shiny, some gold mesh I cut from a Xmas ribbon is on the bottom, and a great ribbon I purchased a while ago that has lots of shimmery pink, blue, and gold in it. As you all know my camera is kaput, so I finally hooked up my new printer and scanned it. BUT as you can see, it still does not pick up all the shimmer although it is at least in focuss.

This is a scan of the dress opened. I stamped my new spabella from www.stampingbella.com , and then used one of my it's a girl thing stamps from www.stampinup.com which I purchased from Dawn at www.dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com

No verse on inside of card as yet but thinking it's a cute card for mom's day. Kind of like from the spa to the ball Kind of thing. We'll see. Well off to see if I can spot any more an-e-mules on my new fave site.

Have a great day all

An African Live Cam

Wow Wow Wow, I just was visiting Circleofcrafters today, and discovered this site. I did not find the original post, so can't say who sent it in, but this is a live web cam in Africa. I believe this is in Nkorho Africa. I read that a few ladies have seen elephants and a few others, I have spotted I believe a buffalo or Bison? But that is all so far. You can hear all the monkey's and distant sounds of the animals (oh ya, they are 9 hrs. ahead of us here in Canada, so it's 11pm there right now). It's pretty interesting to watch, but you do have to wait quite a while to see anything. wa wa wa.
Hope this link works. Give it a try, and enjoy.
www.africam.com or www.wavelit.com
There will be a short commercial before the live cam kicks in so don't think you are at the wrong site. If you go to the first one, look on the left hand side for Nkorho and the videocam will open up.
OK>>>>>>>>>> as I was doing this post I skipped on over to the cam and spotted a hyienna (spelling right? not sure, but there you have it) LOL

Out of the mouths of babes

I don't know about you, but when my girls were really young they were a handful. But handful or not I loved them to death, especially on those times when they were posed a question. You know I would laugh so hard sometimes my sides would hurt.
And I quickly learned that if I didn't want the truth, then by golly, NEVER ASK A KID. LOL
Sit back and enjoy.

Here are a few answers from a class of 8 year olds.
The question was "What is a Grandparent?"

1- Grandparents are people who have no kids of their own because they like other people's.

2- A Grandfather is a man Grandmother.

3- Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come to see them, and they shouldn't play hard or run.

4- It is good if they drive us to the store and have lots of quarters for us.

5- When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leafs and caterpillars.
They show us and talk to us about the colors of the flowers and also why we shouldn't step on "cracks". Oh yeh, and they don't say "HURRY UP."

6- Usually Grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes. And they wear glasses and
funny underwears.

7- They can take their teeth and gums out.

8- They don't have to be smart.

9- Everybody should try to have a Grandmother, especially if you don't have a television, because they are the only grownup's who like to spend time with us.

10- They have to answer questions like " why isn't God married" and "how come dogs chase cats?"

11- When they read to us, they don't skip, and they don't mind if we want the same story over
again.

12- They just know we should have snack-time before bedtime and they say prayers with us
every time, and kiss us even when we've been bad.

13- It's funny when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame it on the dog.

AND last but not least

14- When a 6 year old was asked where her Grandmother lived she replyed
"Oh, she live at the airport. And when we want to see her we just go and get her.
Then when we're done haveing her visit, we take her back to the Airport."

I've read these a few times now and they still make me laugh.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Have a great day

A little Fun

Today I though I'd have a bit of fun and do this cute clown.
This first pic is of course the uncolored first step, (well almost uncolored).
And this is the end result. The colors are much brighter than they are showing here, Not sure why.
Anyway, other than thinking I might redo the sleeves, I think she's pretty darn cute.

Hi All I'm still here

Hi All I'm still here and still trying to be a better blogger, but life gets in the way sometimes.

I have been visiting many, many blogs, and enjoying all the eye candy, great stories, and personal views on varied subjects ranging from crafts to politicts. (Boy this little box sure makes the world seem so much smaller).

Anywho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am trying to decide just where my real and true interests lie.
In visiting textile blogs, I find I light right up when I see how takeing one piece of nothing material turns into a beautiful piece of art or clothing. So I start to think I'd love to do that (now please keep in mind I could not sew a straight stitch if my life depended on it).

I do love to draw, I find it calming, but I'd like to take a course or something to improve, and get into the artist paints on canvass. We can all use a little improvement in something, don't you think?

Then there's cardmakeing............. I must say, I have seem some really awesome cardmakeing here in blogland, and I'm not too sure that's the way to go for me. I have ordered lots of punches and stamps though, so I guess I'd better do something with them. LOL

After an overall assessment of my interests, I am still in a quandary as to how to proceed. To quote a phrase from a blog I visited, "I've lost My MOJO"

In saying this, if there are long periods of inactivity here on my blog, that is the reason.

I am still watching yours though, so stay on your toes. LOL

If you scroll down you'll see my latest drawing, of wich I am not too thrilled with but there you have it.

Have a great Day

She's Catty

I did this in pencil then I chalked it.
I personally like it with no chalk on it.
The finished one looks totally different to me.
I did the eyes sort of catlike, and once I chalked them, well lets say " Yuck, Me no like".
Oh well back to the drawing board.

Tyra

Tyra is my latest.
Working on shadeing now, trying to get it right.
Don't mind the hand, I know it's out of proportion, but one thing at a time.
